Liverpool host Chelsea in an intriguing game in the Round of 16 of the English League Cup. The match will take place on Wednesday at 20:00 UK Time at Anfield.
Everton hosts Newcastle in the game from Round of 16 in the League Cup. The game will take place on Thursday, October 29, at 19:45 UK time at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Match Preview
Everton has lost its last two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Chelsea by a score of 0:2. Prior to this, The Toffees had remained undefeated in eight matches since the start of the season. They have already eliminated two opponents in the League Cup: Preston (4:0) and Wolverhampton (1:0). Now, facing another Premier League side, the challenge is significantly greater.
Newcastle is keen to compete for a trophy, and the League Cup presents a good opportunity; however, the team's current form is far from ideal. The Magpies have lost three of their last five matches. Following a 1:0 victory over Millwall in the previous round of the tournament, Newcastle suffered defeats against Leeds (1:4), Coventry (1:4), and Aston Villa (0:1). The first two of these losses exposed major defensive frailties weaknesses that Everton will look to exploit.
Prediction for Everton vs Newcastle
Nevertheless, Newcastle heads into this match with a boost in confidence following a 2:0 win over Crystal Palace. This was an important success and the team's first clean sheet in four matches. However, I don't believe The Magpies will manage to keep a clean sheet again. I expect Everton to take advantage of their home advantage and score, and it is quite likely that we will see goals at both ends.
