The ninth round of Ligue 1 features an exciting derby on Friday at 20:05 UK Time, as Lille host Lens in a clash between two sides looking to establish themselves among the league's top teams.
Lyon hosts Crystal Palace in a match from the second round of the Europa League main stage. The game will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 17:45 UK Time.
Match Preview
Lyon suffered a 1:2 defeat against Lens upon returning to action after the international break. Prior to that result, Les Gones had recorded three wins and two draws. They made an excellent start to the Europa League campaign by beating Anderlecht 2:1 away from home. Now, they face Crystal Palace, the reigning Europa Conference League champions.
The Eagles defeated Nottingham Forest 3:1 in a Premier League match over the weekend. This marks Crystal Palace's third consecutive unbeaten game, a run that includes a 4:0 victory over Lech Poznań in their Europa League opener. Crystal Palace is continuing its strong European form following last season's Conference League triumph. The Eagleshave lost only once in their last 10 games from UEFA competitions - an impressive record.
Prediction for Lyon - Crystal Palace
Lyon is a solid team that has won eight of its last nine matches in the Europa League main stage. The hosts suffered a 1–2 defeat against Lens on Friday, but prior to that, they had gone five matches unbeaten, including victories over Rennes, Anderlecht, and Auxerre. I expect Lyon to avoid defeat in this match and give the French side the edge to secure a win.
Prediction: DNB 1
